SOAP…

Scripture // “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam
and his wife and clothed them.” – Genesis 4:21

Observation // Adam and Eve have just sinned beyond sinned. I’m not sure if they realized it or not, but they’ve just cause the fall of man – they really disobeyed God. But right after he punishes them, God takes them and makes clothes for them since they now realize that they are naked.

Application // That’s what the Lord does with everyone! He takes our stupid, messy, awful sin, and he covers it with his love. He gives us exactly what we need to begin to heal the pain that we’ve caused ourselves. That’s what He does for me! He says, “Jasmyn, even though you’ve sinned, even though you’ve disobeyed me, here is what you need to cover up the wounds you have caused yourself.”

Prayer // Lord, Thank you so much for your forgiveness. Thank you for clothing me when I make mistakes. Thank you for your gentle fatherly heart towards me.

Reading, the book, “The Divine Mentor,” and applying it’s principles to my life and to my S.O.A.P.ing, has been so freeing for me. Here are two big “a-ha!” freeing things that I took away from the book!

The first is: Having a bible reading plan is important. Otherwise, you will read the same books of the bible over and over again and never touch others. Leviticus, haha, you got jokes! But not reading your whole bible… just reading what interests you, it leaves you with only a partial view of who God is.

The second is this: If I miss a day of reading, that’s okay! I used to get so bogged down with the fact that I had missed a day. I would feel like I needed to go back and read what I had missed before I could even focus on the current day’s reading. I’d find myself so overwhelmed, that I wouldn’t even pick up my bible at all. But this book made me see missing a day differently. If I miss breakfast, and lunch, at dinner time, I don't make up for it by eating three meals at once. I just eat my dinner and move on.. I don’t need to make up for missing a day worth of bible reading, I just read for that day, and move on. If I have a chance to catch up later, I can.

I hope you enjoy reading your bible and S.O.A.P.ing as much as I have the last few months.
“S.O.A.P.ing” with you,

Jasmyn Bennett
