SOAP… Jan 11th

SOAP…

There are so many people in the Bible just waiting to tell us about their lives. They have so much wisdom to share with us. I have always struggled with my daily devotions. As I read The Divine Mentor by Wayne Cordeiro I learned so much and I became hungry to learn from the mentors of the Bible. I would be reading the book and want to just put it down and start reading my Bible instead. It was so cool! Since I’ve started reading this book I have learned many things from my divine mentors. Joshua has shown me a thing or two about faith and perseverance. Here is one of my journal entries from my SOAP journal…

Scripture // So the Lord was with Joshua and his fame spread throughout all the country. (Joshua 6:27)

Observation // Joshua was famous because he had faith in an amazing God. He was famous because with the Lord at his side he saw Jericho fall. WOW! Joshua had such faith, when so many would have said to God, “You want me to march? Huh?” So many would have thought they were hearing things and thought they were crazy. But Joshua marched around that city because he had faith that God would do what He said He would do. Joshua was famous because he had faith in God and God was with him.

Application // I want to be like Joshua! I want to see walls fall down by marching around them even when everyone else thinks it's crazy. I want that same faith.

Prayer // Lord, make me like Joshua. Make me bold and courageous. Lord give me the strength to stand. So many days I feel so weak but I know I am strong in You. Help me to continue to march around those walls even when people are screaming that it's crazy and to give up. God please just give me the faith of Joshua.

My time with the Lord each day has become like air, food and water to me. It has become vital in my daily life. One line from the book that stuck out like none other was this, “When you miss your devotions one day, you notice. When you miss them two days, your spouse and kids notice. And when you miss them three days, the world notices.” I know that this is true cause if I am not in the Word daily I notice so quickly. It's like I feel I have missed something so big. The Lord and I have become so close these few months. He is my Divine Mentor. Reading the Bible each day with the Holy Spirit guiding you is the best thing ever! Get into the Word and see what you can learn from the many people who are just waiting to tell you a thing or two about life. You won't regret the adventures you get to take! Let's jump in! “S.O.A.P.ing” with you,
